銅包鋼有專用接頭器，例如旋緊接頭器、三通接頭器，且連接強度高，只要施工人員將接頭處處理合格，就有很好的防水絕緣效果，有利于延長示蹤線的使用壽命。盡管銅包鋁也有專用接頭器，但是由于銅與鋁的化學活性差異較大，一旦接頭防腐處理不好，被土壤中的液體侵濕，會形成原電池，進而加速銅包鋁示蹤線發生電化學腐蝕，一般1～2a內就會完全腐蝕斷掉，從而失去示蹤作用。

Although copper coated aluminum also has specialized connectors, due to the significant difference in chemical activity between copper and aluminum, once the anti-corrosion treatment of the connector is not good and it is wetted by liquid in the soil, it will form a primary battery, which will accelerate the electrochemical corrosion of the copper coated aluminum tracer line. Generally, it will completely corrode and break off within 1-2 years, thus losing its tracing effect.

③銅芯電線的防腐保護層為PVC材料，其防水、防腐功能較好，但PVC材質容易老化，使示蹤線使用壽命縮短；銅包鋼與銅包鋁的外防腐層為聚乙烯材質，即與PE管為同一材質，在具備了較好的防水性、防腐性的前提下，保證了與一起敷設的PE管道具有相同的使用壽命。

④理論上示蹤線只要能夠連通導電即可，但實際的燃氣工程施工中，選擇示蹤線要考慮到需要有一定的抗拉強度，如果示蹤線強度不夠，往往會在管道回填土或地面有下沉時被拉斷而失去作用。在施工的過程中，難免會出現示蹤線被拉斷的現象，因此，選擇示蹤線時不僅應考慮探測信號的強弱，也要考慮示蹤線自身材質的強度，以減少施工中出現拉斷問題。
